Chainlabs.ai is already the premier intelligence provider to all major AML providers in the space (Chainalysis & co). Chainlabs aims to create the first central data hub for blacklist labels, enabling rapid blocking of stolen funds on exchanges and swaps through our network of AML Partners.

As an Investigator at Chainlabs, you will initially join on a part-time basis, allowing you to maintain your existing professional commitments. This role has the potential to evolve into a full-time position based on mutual fit and performance. We offer a competitive hourly salary with performance-based bonuses tied directly to successful fund recoveries, along with opportunities to earn equity in the company.

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct detailed blockchain investigations involving stolen or illicit cryptocurrency funds, focusing primarily on complex, high-value cases.
  • Utilise investigative tools provided by Chainlabs, and leverage your own access to established blockchain forensic platforms, if available, to improve case resolution efficiency.
  • Draft concise investigative reports outlining findings, actionable recommendations, and next steps clearly and professionally to clients and law enforcement.
  • Collaborate with internal team members, including analysts and developers, to streamline and automate investigative workflows.
  • Proactively engage and communicate with law enforcement, compliance teams at exchanges, and other relevant third parties to expedite freezing and recovery of funds.
  • Maintain meticulous records and documentation of investigations to facilitate immediate blacklist distribution through Chainlabsā€™ network of AML providers and exchanges.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required:

  • Proven experience conducting complex investigations involving financial crimes, blockchain tracing, cybersecurity, cybercrime, intelligence, or forensic analysis, ideally in web3 contexts (institutional, governmental, or private-sector experience).
  • A strong understanding of blockchain transaction mechanisms (mixers, swaps, bridges, etc)
  • Ability to clearly articulate investigative findings in both written reports and verbal presentations.
  • Fluency in English

Preferred:

  • Access to existing blockchain forensic tools (e.g., Chainalysis, Elliptic, Crystal).
  • Fluency in multiple languages is preferred.
  • Previous investigative experience in a web3 context (private sector, governmental, or law enforcement).
