Who You Are:
You will be embedded into Galaxy’s Data Engineering team as our newest hire in Hong Kong. With your expertise in managing data infrastructure, you are responsible for implementing & carrying out solutions/procedures to ensure different stakeholders can access data effectively, securely, and reliably. You will help ensure smooth operation of Galaxy’s data systems, taking preventive or corrective action as needed. You will also make use of different technologies as needed to develop tooling and/or services to enhance the experience for stakeholders in making full use of Galaxy’s data.
What You’ll Do:
- Proactively manage and maintain data systems based on organizational standards and requirements
- Ensure continuous operation of data systems by performing troubleshooting and conducting remedial actions as needed
- Implement and enforce policies & procedures to carry out data-related BAU tasks to support various business functions and teams
- Implement services, scripts, and pipelines to allow people to access data more easily
What We’re Looking For:
- 3+ years of professional experience of managing production databases
- Solid software engineering fundamentals, with experience in using commonly used tooling such as CI/CD, Git, Linux/UNIX
- Strong knowledge of data structures, their implementations, and optimization techniques
- Strong knowledge in SQL and expertise in at least one programming language (preferably Python)
- Experience in stakeholder management
- Experience in utilizing infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform
Bonus Points:
- Practical experience in working in the FinTech/Finance/Crypto sector
- Hands-on experience with using/managing PySpark/Databricks in production environment
- Experience in utilizing/managing AWS cloud environment & related tooling
- Experience in utilizing/managing Postgres databases in production environment
- Experience in utilizing timeseries databases
- Practical programming experience in Go or Java
